What we believe

 A summary of our Statement of Faith and Practice

• We believe that God is One, though composed of three distinct Persons: the Father; the Son; and the Holy Spirit.
• God made man in His own likeness, but we rejected God’s authority and became sinful.
• God sent His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to die in man’s place. This made it possible for us to be reconciled to God through acceptance of Christ’s sacrifice.
• Refusal to accept Christ’s sacrifice leaves man sentenced to eternal separation from God.
• Jesus Christ is truly God, yet truly human, having been born of the virgin Mary. He is sinless and the only Saviour of mankind. We believe in His physical resurrection, His ascension into heaven and His personal return.
• The Holy Spirit convicts men in regard to sin, righteousness and judgement. He makes repentant sinners partakers in the life of the risen Christ. He indwells every believer enabling them to understand the Scriptures and fitting and empowering them for service.
• The Old and New Testaments are inspired by God. They are fully trustworthy and are our final authority for faith and life.
• All who accept Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord constitute the Church, the body of Christ, held together and growing in Him as a worldwide fellowship and in local congregations.
• We practise baptism of believers by immersion and regularly share bread and wine in the Communion.
• All believers are priests and can, and should, exercise spiritual gifts for the benefit of the Church, these gifts being given by Christ.
• We acknowledge that the commission of Christ is to proclaim the Good News to all people, making them disciples and teaching obedience to Him.
• As a local Church we are self-supporting and independent, though we recognise and cultivate a warm relationship with other Churches.
• The church is led by a body of Elders who seek to serve the church in accordance with the teaching of the Bible.  They are responsible for the overall direction of the church making sure that the church is well taught from the Scriptures and encouraging each member to develop their gifts.
• A Church Council assists the Elders in the practical aspects of the church's ministry..
